purlins are all cut
After a little nap this afternoon, we finished cutting our fourth and final purlin! Now there only remains lots and lots of sanding to do on the last few beams, most of the posts, and the purlins. We are planning to pour the oven slab on Monday, so stay tuned.

Is a purlin like a fancy name for horizontal beam on which the rafters sit?
A purlin is basically a longitudinal structural member in a roof. In our case, they are logs which will sit across log posts, and will support the squared 6x10 beams.

By the way, I love this site and I looking forward to the progression of the stove, purlins, bakery, etc.
